Endowment
What is an endowment?
What is an endowment?
An endowment is a voluntary contribution to the Georg Ludwig Rexroth Foundation, given either in cash or in kind — real estate, for example, may also be donated in this way. Contributions to foundations are generally classed as either endowments or donations. An endowment is a voluntary contribution to the foundation's capital base. Unlike a donation, which must be spent promptly on the foundation's purpose, an endowment remains permanently with the foundation. It is invested, augments the overall capital and thereby increases future income.
Endowment during your lifetime or by will
An endowment may be made at different times, depending on your personal wishes and circumstances. If you wish to support us immediately — for example by endowing cash or securities — you may do so straightforwardly at any time during your lifetime. If, on the other hand, you stipulate in your will that all or part of your estate is to pass to the Rexroth Foundation, this constitutes an endowment upon death.
Advantages of endowing
You may become an endowing donor of the Georg Ludwig Rexroth Foundation from a contribution of 5,000 euros. Your endowment provides long-term support for our charitable projects and benefits people who depend on assistance. Endowments of real estate can strengthen the Rexroth Foundation through the rental income they generate, which can be applied to the foundation's purpose while the property itself is preserved according to the donor's wishes.
Tax advantages
The Georg Ludwig Rexroth-Stiftung GmbH is recognised as charitable. Your contribution is therefore tax-deductible as a donation within the statutory maximum limits (deduction as a special expense pursuant to Section 10b EStG, regularly up to 20% of your total income; amounts not used can be carried forward to later years). We will issue you a donation receipt for your contribution pursuant to Section 50 EStDV.
Contributions upon death too – for example by way of a will or legacy in favour of the company – are exempt from inheritance and gift tax in the case of a corporation recognised as charitable (Section 13 (1) no. 16 ErbStG). Your contribution thus benefits our charitable projects in full.
Further advantages
Anyone wishing to establish their own legally independent foundation needs official recognition by the foundation supervisory authority, recognition of charitable status by the tax office, and their own foundation administration. With a contribution to the already existing Georg Ludwig Rexroth-Stiftung GmbH, these steps are not required. So if you would like to make a lasting, long-term and sustainable contribution without founding a foundation yourself, your contribution is the simplest and most effective way to do so.
Oversight
The accounts of the Rexroth Foundation are audited and certified each year by an independent auditor. The certified documents are then submitted to the Lohr tax office, which verifies regulatory compliance and confirms the foundation's charitable status.
What we offer our endowing donors
On request, we publish each contribution individually so that the donor receives fitting recognition, and every endowing donor receives a deed of endowment from us. We of course fully understand if you would prefer to remain anonymous.
Note on tax information
The information above regarding tax implications is intended for your general guidance and reflects the legal position in simplified form. Whether and to what extent a contribution has tax effects depends on your individual circumstances and may change as a result of amendments to legislation or case law. This information does not replace individual tax or legal advice. Before making a decision – particularly in the case of larger contributions, real estate, or dispositions upon death – please seek advice from your tax adviser or from a notary. We would be glad to put you in touch with one or to answer your questions in advance.
Your endowment counts
