Schools for Aboriginal People, Australia

Project leader
Bishop Johannes Jobst in conversation
with an Aboriginal chief
We had been in contact with Bishop Johannes Jobst since 1975. A German by birth, Bishop Jobst worked in Australia for more than forty years. His diocese was Broome, in Western Australia.
In that vast country, Bishop Jobst sought to improve the living conditions of the indigenous people.
We supported him in this work, among other things with the construction of a school to help people settle and ease their transition into wider society.
We funded, among other things, a camper van for a nurse so that she could reach remote villages, and we made possible the repair of his urgently needed mission aircraft.
The grant programme has been concluded.
Total funding to date amounted to EUR 200,000.
