The beekeeping project in the Congo is led by the Augustinus-Missionswerk Würzburg, in the person of Brother Peter Reinl, in cooperation with the Congolese Augustinians.

The aims of the project are:

- To improve the living conditions of poor and vulnerable people in the DR Congo.
- To train up to 1,500 beekeepers by 2035, two-thirds of them women.
- To create local sources of (additional) income, in order to stem the flight from the land and the destitution it brings in the cities.
- To care for creation through sustainable beekeeping, in which bees are tended rather than burnt out (the so-called "killing bees" method).

The Rexroth Foundation has supported the beekeeping project since 2019. In January 2025 an exhibition about the project was held at Lohr Town Hall.
