The Makukhanye School is a community school in Jeffreys Bay, Eastern Cape, South Africa, which the Rexroth Foundation has supported since 2023, among other things in the construction of a medical centre for pupils. The most important long-term aim of the project is to sustain the school feeding programme, which has been so successful that the Eastern Cape Department of Education has introduced similar programmes in all community schools in the region. The programme has since been taken up on a larger scale by the education authority.

The success of the programme and the rising number of pupils attending the school for both food and learning have brought new challenges. The school roll has quadrupled over the past twenty years, placing a heavy burden on the community. More classrooms, lavatories and meeting rooms are needed, and more food is needed too for pupils who have been orphaned by the rising HIV rate, who are looked after and fed at the school during weekends and school holidays.

The Rexroth Foundation supports this project in cooperation with St Faith's School in Cambridge, in the United Kingdom.
