St Capitano School / Asha Dara

St Capitano village school project in Tansen
From 2003 to 2016 we supported the St Capitano village school project in Tansen, Nepal, run by the Italian order of the "Sisters of Charity", which provided schooling for children from the very poorest backgrounds. Tansen lies some 350 kilometres from Kathmandu.
The school was built with our help in 2003 and supported financially by us until 2016, with total funding of EUR 100,000.

Asha Dara project in Kohalpur
Since 2017 we have supported the Asha Dara ("Hope") project in Kohalpur. There some 150 children under the age of six, drawn from the slum districts and small villages, are cared for in four centres. The children are provided with healthy food and clothing. School materials and lessons are also offered, so that they can then go on to attend a state school. In addition we support:

-    Further training for teachers
-    Sewing courses for poor women from the surrounding villages
-    Health programmes in the villages, with medical care provided

Total funding 2003 to 2022 (for both projects): EUR 200,000.
