Support for People in Ukraine
The year 2022 was marked by Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, which still shows no sign of ending. In the heart of Europe, people continue to face a humanitarian catastrophe.
Shortly after the outbreak of war, the City of Schweinfurt resolved to enter into an informal partnership of solidarity with the Ukrainian city of Lutsk. Since then Schweinfurt has been able to provide targeted aid to Lutsk in the form of essential supplies. Alongside a fire-service utility vehicle, hospital beds and medicines, protective equipment has also been provided. The need on the ground remains great.
In November 2022 the Rexroth Foundation made EUR 50,000 available to the City of Schweinfurt. The donation was used for aid measures under the partnership of solidarity, in particular for the purchase of emergency generators.
In addition, a public appeal raised a further EUR 10,000 by the end of the year, which the Rexroth Foundation matched. The combined sum was used to purchase further generators that were urgently needed.
In October 2023 the Rexroth Foundation again donated EUR 50,000 to the City of Schweinfurt. Most of the donation went toward the purchase of an urgently needed refuse collection vehicle, which is intended to help keep waste disposal in the city running.
In 2024 we contributed a further EUR 50,000 to fund urgently needed heating stoves for the communal shelters that had to be set up after Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure.
In 2025 we saw for ourselves how urgently aid is needed in this country ravaged by Russia's war of aggression, and handed over a cheque for EUR 60,000 for the maternity ward of the hospital in the city of Lutsk.
In 2026, too, we are supporting the city with EUR 60,000.
